Intertek can verify the camouflage pattern of hunting and combat apparel using spectral reflectance testing as required by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)
Intertek uses a spectrophotometer to detect reflectance from 600 to 1,200 nm (wavelengths). Each color present in camouflage has its own unique spectral reflectance that is measured by the spectrophotometer, which records readings at regular intervals. Each pattern of camouflage has its own unique spectral reflectance depending on the terrain in which it is worn.
The camouflage pattern used in apparel is created by combined use of materials, coloration or illumination for maximized concealment. Intertek can test your camouflage apparel to DLA requirements to ensure the pattern used effectively minimizes the wearer’s chance of being seen.
