Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.

Overview of Changes: CSA C22.2 No. 12 has been superseded by CSA C22.2 No. 250.4. Summary of major requirements, revised or added to C22.2 No. 250.4-14 from C22.2 No. 12-1982, are found in table below.

If the applicable requirements noted in the table are not described in your report(s), these requirements will need to be confirmed as met and added to your report(s) such as markings, instructions, test results, etc. (as required).

Fees: So that production of products bearing the Listing Mark will not be interrupted, between now and the Effective Date, a quote will be issued for the Applicant to work with their local Intertek Lab to determine the necessary test program, sampling requirement and needed construction details and/or updated marking/instruction details.

This SUN is based on CSA Notice “Lighting Products No. 79”.

Information – To assist our Engineer with review of your Listing Reports, please submit technical information in response to the new/revised paragraphs noted in the attached or explain why these new/revised requirements do not apply to your product (s).

Current Listings Not Active? – Please immediately identify any current Listing Reports or products that are no longer active and should be removed from our records. We will do this at no charge as long as Intertek is notified in writing prior to the review of your reports.

Description of New/Revised Technical Requirements

3		Flexible cords Updated flexible cord types to align with current Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. Updated requirements for luminaires designated for non-household use.
4		Grounding and bonding Requirements for luminaires that have provision for grounding have been updated, and include luminaires not marked for household use and others as applicable
5		Mounting stakes Addition of requirements for the construction of stakes used with outdoor ground-mounted luminaires.
6		Aquarium luminaires Updated requirements for aquarium hoods.
7		Cabinet and under-cabinet luminaires Addition of requirements for cabinet and under-cabinet luminaires
8		Clamp-on luminaires Updated requirements for clamp-on type luminaires.
9		Lighting strings Incorporated requirements from TIL CSA B-31C for temporary lighting strings.
10		Extension handlamps Incorporated requirements from TIL CSA B-67 for extension handlamps.
11		Portable luminaire kits and hobby type lamps Updated requirements for kits and hobby type lamps.
12		LED luminaires Addition of requirements for luminaires intended for use with LED light sources.
13		Rechargeable flashlights Addition of requirements for battery powered flashlights with integral or separable charging means.
14		Work lights Addition of requirements for luminaires intended for work areas such as construction sites, loading docks and machinery work stations.
15		Environmental location luminaires Tests for luminaires intended for wet locations have been updated to the applicable tests of CSA C22.2 No. 250.0.
16		Markings Update of marking requirements, including new markings for damp and wet location luminaires.
17		Factory production tests Addition of normative requirements for factory production tests of portable luminaires.
