Reducing the impact of cold waves in rural Bangladesh
20 Feb 2024
During the early months of the year winter conditions can be harsh in northern Bangladesh, particularly impacting rural areas and vulnerable communities. The lower temperatures affect things like cash crop yields, on which local economies often directly depend, and cause health issues, especially among children and elderly people.
To support those in most need, volunteers from our office in Dhaka travelled nearly 150km to the village of Doulotdia in the Rajbari District to donate winter clothes and blankets to 120 vulnerable families. Part of our ongoing efforts, this is one of many occasions on which we have distributed winter clothes and blankets to support communities in various remote areas of the country.
