Intertek to deliver quality assurance services during mining facility sustainability project

Perth, Australia - Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has been awarded the inspection services contract with Calibre for quality assurance services to be provided on Rio Tinto’s Robe Valley Sustaining Project.
Robe Valley, in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, produces 35 million tons per annum (Mtpa) of channel iron deposit (CID) ore from operations at Mesa A (25 Mtpa) and Mesa J (10 Mtpa). The Robe Valley deposits are processed at Cape Lambert and owned by the Robe River Joint Venture (Rio Tinto majority partner). The upgrade of facilities and infrastructure, which support the Robe Valley Sustaining project, will allow existing production capacity to be sustained.
Intertek is partnering with Calibre Professional Services One Pty Ltd, the appointed engineering, procurement, and construction manager (EPCM) for the project. Intertek’s expert inspection services will support the successful, safe and on-time delivery of the upgraded and expanded plant installations. With equipment being sourced locally and globally, supply chain quality assurance services such as vendor inspection and surveillance are vital for ensuring procured items meet customer and industry quality standards.
