Intertek expert explains recent developments in European legislation for food packaging at Empack 2016

Geleen, Netherlands – Intertek, a leading provider of quality solutions worldwide, will present at EMPACK 2016, 12-13 April, Utrecht, Netherlands, on the recent developments in legislation for food contact materials.
All materials that come into contact with food, such as food preparation surfaces, dispensers, utensils and packaging, must meet stringent regulatory requirements. Within the European Union, there is a range of legislation that governs the safety and suitability of various types of food contact materials. The EU Regulation 10/2011 specifically applies to plastic food contact materials, and as of 1st January 2016 this regulation became fully enforced. Many industries, including, food manufacturers, packers, appliance manufacturers, and packaging producers, now have an obligation to comply with this latest development in food contact regulations.
Nadine Thomis, food contact materials regulatory expert within Intertek Life Sciences, will present during the EMPACK 2016 Seminar Program. She shared “Many of our clients that use or apply materials that come into contact with food, need our assurance on how to comply with European and national regulations. Their questions include “how do we identify the appropriate migration testing?” or “how do we handle the Declaration of Compliance?” Managing these requirements for our customers are at the foundation of Intertek’s food contact regulatory assurance programs and I will be explaining these topics during my presentation at EMPACK 2016”
