Intertek Hong Kong Reinforces Partnership with Korea Testing Certification

Intertek Hong Kong has signed an enhanced partnership arrangement with Korea Testing Certification (KTC), a leading and accredited testing body in Korea.

The partnership, which began over ten years ago in 2001, has enabled customers to obtain the Korea Certification (KC) Mark, facilitating successful product entry into Korea. The partnership enables Intertek Hong Kong, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA, to provide customers with the efficient and cost effective services.

A Partnership Agreement was signed on Mar 13, 2014 between the President of Intertek Hong Kong & Korea, Miss Christina Law, and the President of KTC, Dr. Choi Kaphong. The agreement provides the two organisations with a platform to create value for all stakeholders along the whole electronic and electrical product supply chain.

Extended service for customers

The agreement covers both safety requirement and electromagnetic compatibility testing for electronic and electrical products. In response to the latest product design trend and the increase in popularity of electronic gadgets, this new agreement will also include batteries. Prior to attending the signing ceremony in Hong Kong, KTC signed a renewal agreement with Intertek Taiwan which covers the same service scope as Intertek Hong Kong. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Law noted that she was delighted to reinforce the partnership with KTC. She was also quick to acknowledge that Intertek Hong Kong, being the Centre of New Technology, has advanced facilities, expert professionals and is well positioned to fulfil the demands of overseas suppliers and traders, and enhance product safety for customers in Korea.

"It is our privilege to work with our long-term partner KTC in providing a one-stop solution for our customers," she said, adding that the collaboration with KTC provides customers with the assurance in logistics and language. Otherwise, they would have to send product samples to the country for testing and certification. "The partnership will shorten the time to market for electronic and electrical products. In response to market demand we have added batteries and in future, we will add further capabilities as our customers require them."

Choi expressed his gratitude for the partnership, saying: "KTC has been nurturing relationships with qualified overseas certification organisations for years. Our strategic partnership with Intertek enables us to widen the customer base, while assisting those who wish to market their electronic and electrical products to improve their product safety."

An efficient way to obtain a KC Mark

KTC began in 1970 as an official professional testing research institute in Korea. Now it is one of the country's best equipped testing centres dedicated to enhancing safety and quality of electronic and electrical products in the market, while being one of the accredited testing centres that comes with the authority to issue the KC Mark. Currently, KTC has 390 employees working in 9 branch offices in Korea.
