Intertek achieves initial accreditation of SQF and Food Safety Fundamental Standards from the American National Standards Institute Accreditation Committee (ANSIAC)

Boxborough, MA - Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide announced the approval by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accreditation Committee of their initial accreditation to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System Elements including the Food Safety Fundamentals: Good Manufacturing Practices for pre-processing of animal, plant, and food products.

The Safe Quality Food standard links every stage of the supply chain from farm to fork; the program is designed to be efficient and transparent in order to build confidence in brand criteria. Good Manufacturing Practice is the quality assurance that ensures products are consistently produced and controlled to the quality standards appropriate for their intended use and conform to the regulatory requirements stipulated by health authorities. Good Manufacturing Practices are fundamental to any manufacturing industry and are often required to be implemented in plants and factories by national governments.

Accreditation to these standards allows Intertek to expand its already extensive food safety certification programs. These quality systems provide independent validation that food suppliers are diligent to both their manufacturers, as well as to the end consumer, ensuring the food has been produced, prepared, handled, packaged, distributed and transported to the highest possible standards and recognised good practices.
