Intertek presents Technical Paper on Mercury Control at the Opportunity and Challenged Crude Conference in Singapore
20 Nov 2013
(Singapore) Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, will present a technical paper on “Mercury in the Drilling Process” in Singapore at the 5th Opportunity & Challenged Crude Conference 2013.
Mr. Peter Spitz, Regional Laboratory Technical Services Director APAC, will speak on Nov. 26 during the Conference’s segment focused on technology & trends in processing opportunity crudes, and the impact of mercury in the drilling process. The paper will discuss the release of mercury from drilling fluid additives at circulating wellbore temperatures, leading to the potential contamination of the wellbore and potentially exposing workers to volatile mercury. The implications of Drill Stem Testing (DST) and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for oil production facilities will be discussed. Mr. Spitz’s career includes thirty years of diverse experience managing a wide range of projects involving complex oil exploration and production projects and enhanced recovery assignments.
Mrs. Stacey Varsani, Regional Managing Director for Southeast Asia said, “Intertek adds value to our customers’ businesses through coordinated monitoring, testing, inspection and advisory services.
