European Union kitchenware and food processing equipment must meet certain chemical-composition and reaction requirements for their sale in the EU. Regulations stipulate that certain materials and articles coming into contact with foodstuffs must be produced in compliance with good manufacturing practices, and cannot transfer their components into food in quantities that could endanger human health, change food composition in an unacceptable way, or deteriorate the taste and odor of foodstuffs. A 'Declaration of Compliance' is required for a scope of wider food contact materials under EU Framework Regulation 1935/2004 (EC).
