Intertek Provides CLP and GHS Regulation Compliance Solutions
31 Aug 2009
Intertek, (www.intertek.com), the leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, has expanded its REACH services portfolio by providing comprehensive solutions to assist companies in complying with CLP, REACH, and GHS regulation requirements.
Intertek provides global expertise to meet the hazardous declaration requirements of the Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation and the REACH Regulation. Intertek can support both the required hazardous declaration to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) or updating of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and product labels.
The European Union’s Classification, Labeling and Packaging Regulation (EC)1272/2008 came into force on January 20, 2009. The CLP regulation is aligned with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals criteria. The CLP regulation compliments, amends and repeals the classification and labeling section of REACH. Under the CLP Regulation, the deadline for substance reclassifications is November 30, 2010; for mixtures, the deadline is May 31, 2015.
Intertek solutions are based on our vast experience with restricted materials legislation in the US, Canada, Europe, and China. Intertek’s classification and labeling services include:
- Classification of substances to meet the new requirements set out by the newly adopted Globally Harmonized System
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) updates to verify that all requirements are met and that classification of substances have been properly assigned
- Label formulation for compliance with GHS and correspondence with safety data sheets
“Companies are now faced with meeting another requirement with this new Classification and Labeling regulation,” states Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Vice President of Intertek’s Health and Environmental Services, Restricted Substances and REACH. “Intertek has designed a cost-effective, efficient solution to help our customers around the globe meet these challenging deadlines.”
Intertek’s experts in global materials restrictions and compliance can help you keep your products on the market in the EU, USA and worldwide.
