Exporting/Importing to the Eurasian Economic Union – EAC Certificates and Declarations will require a Global Location Number
30 Jul 2021
GLN (Global Location Number) requirement for the EAEU
The Eurasian Conformity Mark - EAC – is a requirement of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) including Belarus, the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia that products shipped to these countries conform to all Technical Regulations.
Decree No. 936 of the Government of the Russian Federation,19th June 2021, states that from 1st August applications for EAC certificates issued by the Russian certification bodies will have to show a GLN (Global Location Number). The GLN applies to not only parent companies but also to their manufacturing sites. In the absence of GLN, geographical coordinates (geocentric coordinates) can be used. GLN will be showing on the application uploaded on the portal of Rosaccreditation (FGIS), and not on the certificate.
From 1st September the same requirement will apply to EAC declarations of conformity.
Certificates of Conformity are issued and registered by an accredited certification body, and the declaration is registered by an applicant. Certificates for serial production will require an audit of the manufacturing site. Testing of samples, either in an accredited laboratory or at the place of manufacturing is required for both documents depending on the type of product.
Intertek can assist you in obtaining the GLNs as well as EAC certificates and declarations.
