Standard: ASTM F3561 - Standard Test Method for Forced-Entry-Resistance of Fenestration Systems After Simulated Active Shooter Attack

Scope: Requirements and testing procedures to test forced-entry resistant building components to simulate an active shooter event in - commercial, residential, schools, government, and other institutional buildings

Applicable Products: Fenestration systems including security glazing, window and door assemblies

Test Procedure: The test consists of weakening of the fenestration system using ballistic projectiles (5.56 NATO, M193, 55 grain FMJ) which is followed by mechanically driven impacts using a forced entry impactor capable of delivering horizontal impacts of 400 ft-lbf to simulate the active shooter event.

End Result: The product achieves a Level of 1 – 8 for forced entry resistance.
