ASTM F1914: Standard Test Method for Short-Term Indentation and Residual Indentation of Resilient Floor Covering
Standard: ASTM F1914 – Standard Test Method for Short-Term Indentation and Residual Indentation of Resilient Floor Covering
Certification Required: N/A
Scope: Per ASTM F1914: "This test method covers procedures to determine short-term indentation and residual indentation of resilient flooring, when subjected to concentrated loads."
Applicable Products: Resilient flooring
Test Procedure: Initial thickness of the specimens are recorded prior to testing. The appropriate loading foot, total load, indentation time and recovery time are chosen depending on the governing specification. Specimens are placed in the testing machine and the load is applied and then released after the designated time. Each specimen is allowed to recover for the specified length of time before the final thickness is measured. The difference between the initial and final thicknesses is used to calculate the residual indentation.
End Result: This test results in the residual indentation value.
