ASTM F1514: Standard Test Method for Measuring Heat Stability of Resilient Flooring by Color Change
Standard: ASTM F1514 – Standard Test Method for Measuring Heat Stability of Resilient Flooring by Color Change
Certification Required: N/A
Scope: Per ASTM F1514: "This test method covers the procedure for determining the resistance of resilient floor covering to color change from exposure to elevated temperature over a specified period of time."
Applicable Products: Resilient flooring
Test Procedure: Initial color reading for L*, a*, b* are recorded for three specimens using color measuring equipment. The exact area of the initial measurement is marked for future measurements. Specimens are then placed into a circulating air oven set to 158 ̊F for 7 days. After the exposure period the specimens are removed from the oven and allowed to recondition at room temperature for 1 hour. Final L*, a*, and b* readings are then measured and the ΔE* value is calculated.
End Result: This test results in the initial and final L*, a*, b* and ΔE* values.
