Scope: Per ASTM C97: "These test methods cover the tests for determining the absorption and bulk specific gravity of all types of dimension stone, except slate."
Applicable Products: Dimension stone (except slate)
Test Procedure: Absorption: Specimens are dried for 48 hours in an oven at a temperature of 140 ̊F (60 ̊C). The weight is recorded at the 46th, 47th, and 48th hour to verify that the weight is stabilized. If weight continues to drop then the specimens are dried until three hourly consecutive weight measurements are achieved. Upon completion of drying, specimens are cooled
End Result: This test results in the bulk specific gravity and the index of abrasion resistance.
