ANSI/NALFA LF-01 Section 3.7
Standard: ANSI/NALFA LF-01 Section 3.7: Wear Resistance
Certification Required: Required for the NALFA Certification Seal
Scope: Per ANSI/NALFA LF-01 Section 3.7: "This test measures the ability of the surface of laminate flooring to resist abrasive wear through the décor layer."
Applicable Products: Laminate flooring
Test Procedure: The abrasive paper is calibrated by wearing a zinc plate for two sets of 500 cycles. The weight loss per 500 cycles must fall within 80 mg to 140 mg. Once calibration is completed successfully the flooring specimen is attached to the abrader and fresh abrasive paper is placed on the wheels. The specimen is run for 200 cycles and the abrasive paper is replaced. This procedure is repeated until initial wear appears on the surface of the specimen. The specimen is then observed every 50 cycles until wear spots at least 0.60 mm2 are visible in three quadrants of the specimen. Once initial wear is observed on three quadrants, the test is terminated and the cycle count is recorded.
End Result: This test results in the wear resistance of the laminate flooring.
