Obtain proof of your roofing product’s superior performance through Intertek's Roof Impact Certification Program
The Intertek Roof Impact Certification Program provides manufacturers with certification that their products meet recognized performance standards.
As one of the most vulnerable components of any building, roof covering materials can often be subjected to extensive damage by hailstones, resulting in claims for repair or replacement. For this reason, insurance companies and building owners consider damage prevention and reduction and will often require products rated for impact resistance. Some insurance companies offer reduced rates to homeowners that install impact rated roofing systems.
To qualify for the RIC Program, products must be tested and attain an impact classification rating of 1 to 4 (4 being the best) when tested in accordance with FM 4473 or UL 2218.
Program participation includes:
- Initial review of quality control documentation
- Review of testing
- Regular inspections of manufacturing facilities to ensure ongoing compliance with the standards and the Program guidelines
- Periodic random sampling of the roof covering materials for independent testing
- Products may be identified with the ETL – Roof Impact Certification Mark
