Polymer and plastic injection molding test services supporting polymer innovation processes and verifying the quality of polymer materials

Injection moulding services play a critical role in developing polymer processes and novel polymer materials, as they are ideal for obtaining multiple identical test pieces for ongoing evaluation.

Custom Polymer and Plastic Injection Molding Services
Our polymer processing team uses several injection moulding test systems with various moulds to produce polymer test specimens on a small - or large–scale Test specimens can then be tested for  polymer characterization for quality control, verification of material specifications and research and development projects. We routinely test these specimens against industry standards or our client's bespoke test requirements.

Intertek’s injection molding services support high-quality production and reproducibility. We use multiple injection moulding machines ranging from 60 tons to 320 tons of clamping force. These computer-controlled injection moulding machines provide optimal setup efficiency and high-precision process control and monitoring. Additionally, a data aquisition system can register process parameters like cavity pressure, mould temperature and melt pressure in real-time.

Our Arburg Allrounder Electric Injection Moulding Machine offers several key benefits. It provides cost-effective performance with its powerful and fast operation, enabling shorter cycle times. Additionally, its directly driven servo-electric spindle systems deliver exceptional precision, making it ideal for high-quality test specimens production.

We can also provide services involving the processing of lacquer plates. These plates can be used in research activities to test performance of paints and coating systems on polymer compound surfaces. Our Arburg 720S 3200-1300 has a mould with two cavities, and we can mould lacquer plates with dimensions of 120 x 120 x 3.2 mm and 148 x 210 x 3.2 mm (DIN-A5 dimensions).

Additionally, the injection moulding equipment can also be used for mould research. The equipment versatility allows us to mount customer moulds to investigate polymer processing performance.

Our scientists and engineers work with clients worldwide. Using insights from our combination of polymer processing and characterization techniques we help identify material properties, study production possibilities, and solve problems and troubleshoot. Using our injection molding capabilities we can prepare a wide range of test specimens for evaluation of materials intended for applications in the medical, automotive, electronics, aerospace, consumer products, appliances, lighting and energy sectors.

Comprehensive Polymer Development Support
We offer a broad combination of compounding, processing and material characterization techniques. Our processing capabilities include compression molding, injection molding, spiral flow, cast film extrusion and barrel and screw evaluation. Combined with extensive material characterization techniques, Intertek experts can help you define the processability characteristics of your polymer materials and drive an understanding of the materials’ critical functional properties.
Encompassing raw material identification, selection of materials, additive identification, processability aspects, mechanical characterization and performance testing against specifications suitable for the intended end-use application, our scientists provide a one-source solution for materials sourcing, Research and Development and production quality control.
