Kevin Matten, M.Sc. Associate III, Food & Nutrition
Kevin Matten is a Senior Associate of Toxicology & Regulatory Science within the Safety & Regulatory team of the Food & Nutrition Group at Intertek Health Sciences Inc. Kevin is primarily responsible for preparation of new dietary ingredient notifications (NDINs) for use in supplement products in the United States and is also involved with submissions to the Therapeutic Goods Administration for similar product uses in Australia. He has also helped produceingredient white papers, Food Allergen Labeling petitions, and regulatory submissions for novel foods for review by United States Food and Drug Administration, European Food Safety Authority, Singapore Food Agency, and Food Standards Australia New Zealand.
Kevin provides support with safety assessments, feasibility/gap analyses to determine regulatory strategies and data requirements for successful submissions, and the publication of safety manuscripts. This work involves the critical review, evaluation, and interpretation of scientific literature on toxicology, carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, and metabolism, as well as a strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for submission.
He received his M.Sc. in Environmental Science & Toxicology at the University of Guelph, wherein he conducted research on the toxicity of dinonylnaphthalene sulfonates to aquatic organisms, such as freshwater mussels and fathead minnows, as a part of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Chemicals Management Plan initiative.
